Q1: What is a Manufacturing License (ML)?
A1: Under Industrial Coordination Act (ICA) 1975, manufacturing companies with shareholder fund of RM2.5 million & above and employing 75 or more are required to obtain a Manufacturing License (ML) [in Sabah called `Federal Manufacturing License’ (FML)] from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia (MITI).
Q2: What is a State Government Approval (SGA)?
A2: In Sabah, manufacturers with shareholders’ funds of less than RM2.5 million and engaging less than 75 employees are required to obtain State Government Approval (SGA).
(Note: This approval is a prerequisite before trading licenses can be issued to manufacturing companies by Local Authorities.)
Q3: What are `Hands-holding Services’?
A3: `Hands-holding Services are services rendered to companies/investors/entrepreneurs (SMEs) who are facing implementation and/or operational problems.
Q4: What are DIDR programs to assist SMEs in the promotion of Sabah products for the export market?
A4: DIDR organizes programs such as the participation of SMEs in domestic as well as international expositions to promote products produced by Sabah SMEs for the export market. Besides these, the department also organizes specific courses which enhance knowledge of the various ways to participate in the export market.
